MAKE A WISH BALL

Brian puts it so well so here is what happened last night

It was a good night at the Dorchester. The Make-a-Wish people have been doing these dinners for over 20 years … in which time they’ve raised over 20 Million pounds for the cause.

What they do is make wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses … it’s lovely work they do. As a matter of interest, it was because of Make-a-Wish that I met little Vicky Moore, all those years ago, and we became friends. We continued to make music almost up until her sad, unfair death, whicn nobody could stop. Her writings are still on this site - she was quite a girl.

Tonight was a good experience … I tweeted a pic of Kerry and me just before we went down to the show.

But what we didn’t show was the reality … us being snuck through the kitchens to make our entrance. Ah … the glamour ! ha ha.

And we did play a song for Freddie, of course – Life is Real – actually even more stripped down than on our tour … because there were no keyboards to back me up on the solo section. To be honest, it’s a little harder, but I kinda like the extreme purity of truly one guitar and one voice. The other songs: I, Who Have Nothing - always enjoyable to play (extreme dramatic starkness!), Born Free, the Kissing me Song (again - ultra simply) - and Crazy Little Thing for an ‘encore’. They gave us a standing ovation … very heartening because it was not an audience who had paid to see us. THANKS !

Our Brilliant cast from We Will Rock You did the cabaret later in the evening. Big thanks to you guys … that’s a lot to ask after a day’s work in the Dominion.

Kerry is now back in technical rehearsals for WAR OF THE WORLDS. That will be something to see … I’m sure a lot of you will catch the show on tour in the coming weeks.

Me ? I have to get an op done soon on the torn cartilege (and other damage and debris!) in my knee. But first I will be in Liverpool - doing my job as Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores.

Cheers All

Collaboration with a star

Having a career in the music industry is so rewarding and we decided on running a competition to help promote young musicians in their development to pursue this career choice. Running the competition is easy but in order to make it worthwhile and viable for young artists, I wanted a highly respected performer on board as our judge and patron. I had no doubt who to approach there was only one option for us and that was Kerry EllisHaving watched Kerry in numerous performances in West End shows to solo tours to outdoor gigs, her musicianship, talent and vocals leaves you in awe but yet so humbled to be her presence. I approached her nearly a year ago about our competition and she agreed without hesitation to come on board for it. She has supported Encore Music Biz in so many ways and we are so proud and honoured to bring her to the Rhondda and work with her and to give young musicians an opportunity to learn from such a lovely person and wonderful talent.

WHAT A TOUR

SO much has happened on our little Born Free Tour, its been amazing. Not only have we released a video and two versions of our single Born Free which is available now on itunes with the proceeds going to The Born Free Foundation, we have also had a fantastic time playing to great crowds over the UK.

The reaction and support we have had on this tour has been incredible. I have loved every show and each have been very different. As this is such an intimate show form our last tour I think people have had a chance to get to know us a little better and get involved. Brian has told some great stories and we have had many sing-a-longs with the crowds. Its been a joy.

Last night in Crawley we had the entire Born Free foundation group in to watch including the beautiful founder herself Virginia Mckenna who enjoyed the show and loved what we were doing to help the charity.

We only have 3 dates left, tonight in Portsmouth, tomorrow Salisbury then our last date on monday in Wycombe. If you have not seen us yet grab one of the last few tks and come and join the fun !
